Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure – Walkthrough (360/PS3/PC/Wii)

A guide for the console version of Activision’s 2011 spin-off to the Spyro the Dragon series, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure by resident Skylanders owner, Owen
Nagivation:

Introduction

Welcome to the magical world of Skylands. You are now an elite Portal Master with the power to controls the Portal of Power and bring the mighty Skylanders to life. Together, your mission is to save Skylands from the evil darkness that has taken over.

Portal of Power

Setup

Before you begin Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, your Portal of Power must be connected to your games console. The PS3 and Wii version of the game includes a wireless Portal of Power that requires 3 AAA batteries and includes a small USB adapter that must be removed from battery compartment. Whilst the system is turned on, it is required that you first sync the Portal to your wireless receiver. To do this, turn the Portal of Power on by holding down the button on it’s side. The LED will blink and the portal itself will change between colours. Once you have done that, press the small ‘Sync’ button inside the battery compartment. The LED on the side of the portal when then blink rapidly. Whilst this is blinking, press the button on the wireless receiver whilst the console is turned on. The Xbox 360 and PC version of the game includes a wired Portal of Power, which is to be plugged into an available USB port on the system.

The PS3, PC and Wii version’s of the Portal of Power are interchangeable, meaning they work on each others systems, but not the 3DS version and Xbox 360 version. However, the 3DS version does work on all systems besides the Xbox 360 version. The Xbox 360 Portal of Power only works on that console. All versions of the Portal of Power work on the online game; Skylanders: Universe.

Toy Placement

You can place up to 3 toys on the Portal of Power at one time. This includes 2 playable Skylanders (for 2 player mode only) and 1 magic item or 1 location piece (sold in Adventure Packs).

Toys and Figures

Skylanders

In total, there are 32 Skylanders to collect. Skylanders are bought separately from the game and placed on the Portal of Power to unlock that character whilst playing the game. Each character belongs to one of eight elements, these being Magic, Earth, Water, Fire, Tech, Undead, Air and Life. Each character will save on them their health, experience level, upgrades, nickname, hat and ownership.

Location Items

Location items are figures included in Adventure Packs (sold separately). When placed on the portal whilst you are in the Ruins, these items will permanently unlock a new level for Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. When placed on the portal during any other level of the game, they will deal a large amount of damage (most likely killing) all enemies around the player. The location items avalible for purchase are:
  • Empire of Ice
  • Pirate Seas
  • Darklight Crypt
  • Dragon’s Peak

Magic Items

  • Winged Boots – This item will increase the speed of your Skylander(s)

Skylander Sidekicks

Skylander Sidekicks are AI characters that, once placed on the Portal, will follow the player around. Each Skylander Sidekick represents a normal Skylander.  There are 4 Skylander Sidekicks:

  • Terrabite (Terrafin)
  • Gill Runt (Gill Grunt)

Elemental Gates

Elemental Gates are gates that can only be unlocked by playing as a Skylander of the specific element for each gate. Once you have unlocked an elemental gate you can switch to any character, even of a different element, whilst in this new area. Elemental Gates lead to areas that will include a Hat and Treasure Chest.

Hats

Hats are wearable accessories that, when found, can be equipped to any Skylander. These hats will increase certain stats of the characters that they are equipped to.

Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests contain large amounts of gold, these chests can be found in the world and must be unlocked by either shaking the Wii remote (Wii) or the Right Analogue Stick (PS3/Xbox 360)

Legendary Treasure

Legendary Treasures are items that, once collected, give the current Skylander extra gold. Each legendary treasure is worth a different amount of gold.

Story Scrolls

Story Scrolls are small, sections that reveal information on the back story to the game. Each story scroll is read out by Eon once you first collect it but can be found again in the collections section in the pause menu.

Soul Gems

Soul Gems are items that are required to purchase the final upgrade of each Skylander. Each Skylander has their own soul gem and once unlocked you can view a preview for that character. These previews can be viewed again from the Skylanders section under collections in the pause menu.

Winged Sapphires

There are 10 Winged Sapphires located in the Ruins. These special treasures give you a 2% discount on all upgrades for your Skylanders per Winged Sapphire.
