February has only just begun and we’re already beginning to hear some info on the inevitable Skylanders 3. For those of you who’ve stuck around with us since last year you’ll know that in late January 2012, Activision bought the domain SkylandersGiants.com which turned out to be for the sequel that was released in October of the same year.

Now, one year later, and Activision have done it again – this time buying 4 different domains;

SkylandersKaosAlliance.com
SkylandersNanoForce.com
SkylandersSuperForce.com
SkylandersSwapForce.com

This leaves us with 4 possible names for a Skylanders sequel, or names for future iOS games. One of the more interesting names is ‘Skylanders: Kaos Alliance’. In a tour around the TFB offices, the HD room were allowed a sneak-peak at a large selection of prototype figurines for the Skylanders series; and even some unannounced variants that were later officially released. One thing that stands out however is an image of a group of Kaos’ figurines, that were apparently sculpted for fun after the ending of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.

The article goes on to mention:

I was told he could be in the third Skylanders game and the way I was told makes me think he’s already on the drawing board.

This, along with the ending of Skylanders: Giants, leads me to believe that the title ‘Kaos Alliance’ – or some variation upon that – would be the most likely from the list; or at least the game would have something to do with an alliance with the series’ main villain. Maybe he will even be a playable character that comes with the game?

If the previous two years is to be believed, then we can expect a full announcement from Activision on their Skylanders-related plans within the next few weeks when Toy Fair 2013 starts on the 10th of February.

Introduction

Welcome to Skylands young Portal Master. Only you, the Skylanders, and the newly returned Skylanders Giants can stop the evil that now threatens the peace of Skylands! Kaos is back, and with a slew of new evil tricks! It is up to you to discover the secrets behind the ancient and mysterious Arkeyan ways before Kaos does!

Portal of Power

Setup

Before you begin Skylanders: Giants, your Portal of Power must be connected to your games console. If you are using the Portal of Power from the game Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, the PS3 and Wii version’s of the Portal of Power require 3 AAA batteries and a USB adapter (included) that must be removed from battery compartment. Whilst the system is turned on, it is required that you first sync the Portal to your wireless receiver. To do this, turn the Portal of Power on by holding down the button on it’s side. The LED will blink and the portal itself will change between colours. Once you have done that, press the small ‘Sync’ button inside the battery compartment. The LED on the side of the portal when then blink rapidly. Whilst this is blinking, press the button on the wireless receiver whilst the console is turned on.

If you have purchased the Skylanders: Giants Starter Pack, the Portal of Power is wired on all systems, including the PS3 and Wii versions. The Xbox 360 version of the Portal of Power is wired for both Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders: Giants, which is to be plugged into an available USB port on the system.

Compatability

If you are using your Portal of Power from Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure it will still work in Skylanders: Giants. Below is a table showing the compatibility between the Portal of Power included in Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and the Skylanders: Giants software.

Toy Placement

The game will allow you to place up to 3 toys on the Portal of Power at one time. This includes 2 playable Skylanders (for 2 player mode only) and 1 magic item or 1 location piece (sold in Adventure Packs). The placement of magic and location items may differ depending on the number of Giant Skylanders you have on the Portal of Power at a time.
